Catalytic converters coming soon!
In compliance with new emission standards, all engines shipped after January 1st, 2010 from engine production to the boat manufacturers will be equipped with a catalytic converter.

According to the engine type or size, this is a projected increase of $2,750 to $5,000 per engine at resale on the dealer floor. Larger boats requiring twin applications will see an increase of $5,500 to $10,000 to the price of the package. This increase can not be negotiated or avoided. The smaller runabouts will be effected the most. Average model year increases have averaged 3%to 4% in recent years. With the new engine adjustments, some smaller family boats could see increases as much as 15%-20% in a single year.

All boat builders are effected equally. Most boat builders are stepping up to pre-purchase or warehouse engines before Jan 1st 2010 to delay the price increase of shipped 2010 boats to the dealer. All boat builders are expected to switch over at some point during the 2010 selling season.
